A former pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), pastor Idowu Iluyomade has reportedly began his own ministry after he was suspended and later replaced at RCCG last year.

In a video that has gone viral, pastor Iluyomade was seen giving sermon in his new church named “Family Fellowship” around Victoria Island, Lagos State, with another video showing him dancing to music during the church service.

Pastor Idowu Iluyomade was a senior pastor at the RCCG City of David Parish and served the church for several years until June, 2024, when he was criticized for his wife’s exuberant and lavish birthday party, at a time the church was mourning the death of a very important member, the Managing Director of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, who died alongside his family in a plane crash.

Despite this sad incident which threw the church into grief and mourning, pastor Iluyomade’s wife, Mrs. Siju Iluyomade, turned 60 the same month, and could not restrain herself from celebrating it in a generous manner, which prompted the church after a review to suspend her husband from his clerical duties.

Pastor Idowu Iluyomade was suspended for three months, during which he was replaced by pastor Charles Kpandei of Resurrection Parish. However, pastor Iluyomade was never reinstated after his suspension, as a new pastor, Kayode Pitan was appointed to take over the parish.

On Sunday 19 January, 2024 a video of pastor Iluyomade ministering in his own church trailed the internet, sparking lots of reactions from Nigerian Christians.
