A man identified as Ahmad @_OriginalMoh1 has shared experience with the Nigerian police on X, recounting how he was allegedly arrested and mistreated by the officers three years ago in Ilorin.

In his post, Ahmad revealed that he was arrested for having ₦375,000 in his bank account, as the officers accused him of doing fraud, and subjected him to severe physical abuse, slapping him repeatedly and pressuring him to admit that he was into fraud.

He wrote; “On this day three years ago, men of the Nigerian police force, Ilorin branch, arrested me for having 375k in my account.

They slapped me severally and tried to force me to admit that I was into fraud.”

Ahmad also opened up about the lasting psychological impact of the ordeal, and how he is still grappling with the trauma from the incident. “Long story short, I’m still dealing with the trauma,” he added.

The tweet, posted on January 14, 2025, has since gone viral, sparking outrage and reactions among thousands of netizens.

Many social media users expressed solidarity with Ahmad, while condemning the systemic abuse and misconduct often associated with the Nigerian Police Force.
