Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe, a US-trained Hollywood and Nollywood film-maker was arrested on January 01, 2025 by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over illicit drugs.
The film-maker who also doubles as a motivational speaker was nabbed at his hotel room in Lekki, Lagos State.
Confirming the arrest in a statement, the NDLEA’s Director, Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi said Mbadiwe’s partner, Uzoekwe James, was arrested earlier the same day at a warehouse in Ajao Estate.
The Director explained that James was sent by Mbadiwe to collect a shipment of 33 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis weighing 17.30 kilograms, which arrived the Import shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja on 24th December 2024 from the United States on a Delta Airline flight.

“NDLEA officers on Friday 27th December 2024 arrested a US-trained Hollywood and Nollywood filmmaker, Emeka Mbadiwe, who is also a motivational speaker at his Lekki Hotel room.
“This followed the arrest of his partner, Uzoekwe James, who was earlier arrested same day at a warehouse in Ajao Estate, where he was sent by Mbadiwe to collect a shipment of 33 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis weighing 17.30 kilograms, which arrived the Import shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja on 24th December 2024 from the United States on a Delta Airline flight, concealed in large wooden boxes,” Mr. Babafemi said.
Recall that Igbo Tv had reported the arrest of one businessman identified as Orizu Ifeanyi Arthur at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after he refused an x-ray examination before boarding his flight for France, but later excreted a total of 74 wraps of class A drugs.
