Despite the economic hardship experienced in the country, the administration of President Bola Tinubu would not hesitate to throw funds here and there for its senior stake holders in the country.
In the recent budget proposal, the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike generously allocated N10 billion for rent and furniture for the four the Presiding Officers of the country, which includes the Senate President, God’swill Obot Akpabio, Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, the Speaker of the House of Reps, Abbas Tajudeen and his deputy, Ben Kalu.
The allocation was filed in the Supplementary budget list of FCT for 2025 and signed by the Minister of the FCT himself, titled “Renting and Furnishing of Presiding Officers of the National Assembly”.

This allocation has been criticized by economists and analysts for being outrageous and not reflecting the current economic situation.
Earlier, the president had advised Nigerians to manage, and live within their means to help ease the effects of the hardship caused by his administrative policies; first in removing fuel subsidy without a substitute which has led to inflation in the country.
Despite his advise, $100 million was used earlier to purchase the Presidential jet, N5 billion for the purchase of a Presidential yacht, including so many unnecessary expenditures that does not reflect the country’s economic situation.
Luxurious sport cars have also been given to Legislators, still from the country’s purse, but the average citizens have been warned of the implications of spending unnecessarily while the government continues to bask in excessive expending.
