An incident is reported to have occurred at Lafiyagi Dzwafu village in Katcha Local Government Area, Niger State, where Fatima Dzuma, 27, second wife to 25-year-old Baba Aliyu, killed her husband while he was fast asleep.
According to the report, Fatima who has been married to Aliyu as his second wife for three years now without a child, tied the husband’s while he was sleeping and smashed his head with a pestle.
After she must have killed her husband, she wrapped him with a mat, and dumped him in a nearby bush around their compound.
It is said that, the first wife of the deceased birthed a child and the next day was supposed to be child’s naming ceremony before the sad incident occurred.

Of course, the husband was nowhere to be found, when his family asked, Mrs Fatima denied knowledge of his whereabouts, but three days she confessed to her crime.
After she was arrested, she confessed to the police how she enacted the murder, and why she did it.
She said the husband had been physically abusing her, and in fact, the night she decided to commit the act, Mr. Aliyu had assaulted her and left the house.
“I used a scarf to tie his neck, and because he was in a deep sleep, he couldn’t struggle. I struck him three times with a pestle — twice on the head and once on his hand,” she said in her statement to the police.
