Human Rights Lawyer and author, Dele Farotimi, after being released from prison for allegedly defaming Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afe Babalola in his book “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System”, made a video thanking Nigerians for the support they showed towards him while he was in prison.

Dele Farotimi expressed his gratitude to Nigerians crying, and attributed his freedom to Nigerians, saying it was because Nigerians united and stood with him, that he was now free.

He stated that despite ethnic and religious differences, Nigerians came together and spoke on his behalf, and didn’t allow Nigeria to happen to him.

We stopped being human because we became Nigerians. They divided us, and we fell for it.

“Because you wouldn’t see me as a Yoruba man, you spoke for me. Because you wouldn’t see me as a Christian, you spoke for me. Nigeria couldn’t happen to me because you spoke.”

“You found your voices. I became you. And in our collective, you couldn’t be silenced,” he said.

Recall that Igbo Tv had reported the arrest of Dele Farotimi by the Ekiti State Police command for an alleged defamation of Afe Babalola, and after staying in prison for weeks was granted N30 million bail by the Ekiti High Court with two sureties.
