“But the truth is, the right woman for you isn’t looking for perfection, she is looking for connection. And that connection doesn’t cost a dime,” Jessica said.

A Ghanian lady and media figure to young men identified as Jessica Opare-Saforo, has evoked debate on social media after she said the best time for men to date is when they are in financial rut.

The lady responding to a podcast said, the best time to date is when a man is broke, and explained why.

According to her, most men tie their sense of worth directly to their ability to provide, that it’s a natural narrative men have been fed with since birth.

“Real men are financially stable”, that has been the believe, however, Jessica points out that such believe can actually sabotage one’s love life and personal growth.

“When you tell yourself I can’t date until I’m financially ready, you’re actually feeding into a toxic cycle, my two cents. You’re convincing yourself that you’re only available when your wallet is full, which can destroy your confidence inadvertently,” she said.

Jessica Opare-Saforo also explained that such mindset does not only affect one’s dating life, but it “bleeds into everything”; including your friendships, career and even how one sees himself as a man.

The media personality agreed, it is true men feel they are not doing enough, and don’t want to show up on a date and feel like they are underdelivering.

But the “truth is, the right woman for you isn’t looking for perfection, she is looking for connection. And that connection doesn’t cost a dime.

“Dating isn’t about proving you’re rich, it’s about proving you’re worthy, and worth has nothing to do with how much money you have.

“In fact, avoiding dating until you’re financially stable can actually backfire because you miss out on valuable experiences that shape you into a better partner,” Jessica explained.

She asked how one is supposed to learn about building emotional intimacy, effective communication, or even basic relationship dynamics if one is just sitting on the sidelines, waiting until he is financial ready.

A lot of netizens have agreed and disagreed with her.

One @mkasithapelo is of the opinion that;
“Dating when you’re broke will delay your progress. If you were supposed to reach a certain goal in one or two years, you are likely to be delayed by atleast two or more years.”

@Nhelycake said;
“It is, truly if you wanna know if someone really loves you, do it while broke and in debt, whoever sticks by you and even tries to support in any way they can then they are your people.”

@kidblack182 thinks;
It’s a double spectrum, the middle ground is this:
“The best time to find your life partner is when you’re young and don’t have anything yet and then you build with that life partner, that way you know you have a real one and won’t make mistake of marrying the wrong girl”.

@WisdomAPeterz gained reactions as he said;
“I don’t wanna pick a lover when I’ve made it. I fear the love mightn’t be genuine. Bad things can happen in the future and she dumps you, cos she never truly loved you.
I want my girl now that I’m broke, for there I’d know she truly sees me worthy of loving aside financial terms.”
