A Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom revealed a heartbreaking situation where he lost £12,000 that is 24 million in Naira, to a saving scheme after the collector died unexpectedly.
According to the story as posted on the X handle @tobyasky, the man said he and 12 of his trusted friends and partners were involved in a contribution referred as “ajo”.
They each contributed £1,000 every month, for which one person after another would carry the contributed sum of £12,000.
After already contributing £11,000 for others, it was his turn to now carry the contribution, everyone contributed as usual.
He then called the collector for his funds, his line wasn’t available. In fact, the line was inactive for two days.

Then later the collector’s wife called, reporting while in sobs, that her husband passed away.
The man had to wait for at least a month for the family to mourn their deceased before calling to inquire about his £12,000, but the response he got broke him.
The wife said, she had no idea about the money.
The man said he has already planned on using the money to pay off some debts and invest the remaining, but unfortunately all his money and expectations are gone.
