A Woman identified as Malama Abdulkadir-Yanmama reportedly returned N748,320 that was mistakenly transferred into her account in Katsina State.
The money which was meant for the Federal Government’s Home Grown School Feeding Program in Katsina State, was mistakenly transferred into Yanmama’s account instead of the account of the registered vendors that provide meals to Primary school pupils, but the virtuous woman despite the economic hardship decided to return the money.
She reported the incident to the Social Investment Program Agency, after noticing the sender and the description which contained where and what the money was intended.
The Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, after hearing of the woman’s show of integrity, ordered that she be rewarded her with N500,000 and a commendation letter and an opportunity to participate in the next school feeding program.

The Auditor General, Alhaji Anas Tukur-Abdulƙadir, who confirmed her account statement also praised her uprightness, saying she deserved more honors for it.
The Executive Director of the Social Investment Program Agency, Dr. Mudassir Nasir while presenting the Governor’s reward to her, said the woman had brought the report to the office, about how she received an alert with a narration that said payment for vendors who were providing primary school pupils with free food.

So being that she was not part of the vendors who provide food for the pupils, she had to return the money.
Yanmama stated that she knew that she had to return the money because it didn’t belong to her.
A lot of Nigerians reacting to the news, applauded the Yanmama for her probity, but said Nigeria does not deserve someone like her. People also thanked the Governor for giving her the reward which stands as an encouragement to others.
Some others believes she should not have returned the money, citing politicians that have been embezzling public funds and doing away with the country’s resources.
