A Nigerian lawyer identified on social media as Princess Jemimah has sparked debate on the internet as she advised mothers to teach their daughters to keep their bodies pure and to always check their virginity.
She pointed out that this generation is crazy, and that there are predators everywhere, therefore the girl child must be protected at all costs, stating her experience and mistake with her own children.
She said she lost her own battle of sexual morality when she did not marry the man that deflowered her, because she was confident they would marry each other at the time.
The woman who said she does not care if people call her “old-fashioned” advised mothers to teach their daughters to keep their bodies pure, not for their future husbands, but for God’s glory, stating that, that was her own focus during her purity journey, until she made the mistake.

She encouraged mothers to always check their daughters’ virginity, in order to play a role in their daughters’ purity journey, and described five methods to do so.
When explaining the method of checking virginity, Princess Jemimah wrote:
1) Let the child lie down flat on the ground.
2) With her pànts off, she should spread out her legs very well.
3) Pin your two fingers on the two edges of her vàgina.
4) Stretch it slightly.
5) Check for it’s openness & depth, it will have a lot to reveal about such child’s state of chastîty.
She advised mothers to not go crazy with their child if the result they got is negative.
“Be soft and get to hear from her how she became so loosed. The things you will hear will greatly shock you. One of my daughters (6 years old) said ‘Mummy, na my brother and him two friends dey fuçk fûck me every time!’ This generation is certainly cràzy, there are predators everywhere, the girl child must be seriously protected. Mothers, please let’s watch & pray!” she said.
Many have disagreed with her, arguing that children of these days are smarter than their mothers, and that the technique she gave is not guaranteed.
Some called her old-fashioned, noting that what is more important for the girl child is character and not sexual morality.
The practice of virginity testing is a long-standing tradition documented in at least 20 countries, spanning all regions of the world. Women and girls are often forced to undergo virginity testing for various reasons, according to the United Nations Global perspective Human stories.
World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN Human Rights office have agreed that virginity testing must be stopped. During the World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) in Rio de Janeiro, it was stressed that such tests are both unscientific, and a violation of human rights.
It was also claimed that Virginity testing reinforces stereotypes and gender inequality, hence it is a practice that must be prohibited at all cost.
