Report reaching Igbo Tv has it that an one of the tires of an airplane burst while landing on the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, and slips from the runway into a nearby bush.
Passengers on board the plane with registration number 5N-JRT, were evacuated shortly and safely with no injuries or deaths recorded.
The incident which occurred at around 10 a.m on Wednesday December 11, disrupted activities in the airport, so that subsequent flight schedules have been delayed and put on hold.

According to a confirmation statement signed on by FAAN Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, the airplane referred to as Allied Air Cargo aircraft with registration number 5N-JRT skidded off Runway 22 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
It said five individuals were on board the plane, however, none of them were reported injured. They were all safely evacuated and taken to the FAN clinic for further checks.
Orah also revealed that the Airport Emergency response team is on the scene along with accident investigators, while the runway is being cleared and expected to reopen for operations shortly.
A part of the statement according to The Punch reads:
“At 10:05 am on December 11, 2024, an Allied Air Cargo aircraft with registration number 5N-JRT skidded off Runway 22 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja with five souls on board with no reported injury. They were all safely evacuated and taken to the FAN clinic for further checks.
“The Airport Emergency response team is on the scene along with accident investigators. The runway is being cleared and is expected to reopen for operations as soon as possible.”
