In a tight contest between opposition Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahama and his party won.
The race to replace President Nana Akufo-Addo who have completed his two terms as President of Ghana, was between 12 contestants, however, the contest was highly head-on between 66-years-old Mahama, who served as Ghana’s president from 2012 to 2016, and Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana under Nana Akufo-Addo’s led administration.
The newly elected president of Ghana, Dramani Mahama won decisively, pulling 56.3 percent of votes against Bawumia’s 41.3.
Note that, the NPP were the ruling party, which shows that Ghanaians have voted for change.

Congratulating Mahama on his victory, Atiku Abubakar wrote:
