Is Manchester United Back to their old ways? – Details of Sunday’s victory against Everton
It was a beautiful show today at Old Trafford as Manchester United stole in four goals against Merseyside Blue; something that hasn’t happened for quite a long time.
One hardly recalls the last time Manchester United beat its opponent four goals to nothing. One might want to say, Amorim’s regime will bring the change Manchester United had longed so much for.
Prior to now, The Red Devils have been struggling under Ten Hag to get their style balanced.
Even though Ten Hag was able to pick two trophies, the balance in the team was still not there. And this year, things started getting worse, Manchester United sure needed a change, real change.
And now, with Ruben Amorim it seems, the needed change is yielding.
Last Thursday night, the team played very well against Norwegian side FK Bodø/Glimt, they won, with three goals to two.
On Sunday, Amorim’s tactical acumen was on full display, bringing out the best from each players. Rashford who has been having a hard time scored a brace, and the stylishly sexy Zirkzee found the net twice too.
With Ten Hag, it looked like Zirkzee was a waste of signing. Maybe because Ten Hag who brought him did not know how to use him. But Amorim within a short time has the key to deploying these players.
On Thursday night, it was Rasmus Hojlund who has not been able to show himself as a striker, netting two goals.
The Portuguese on his arrival to the club had said he doesn’t need time. Ten Hag had always wanted time, and more time.
The fans are satisfied with Sunday’s result. The goals, the possession, the players especially Bruno Fernandez and Diallo Amad who has beaten Antony to the right wing position.
Their rating after Sunday’s match was way different from the usual. Amad scoring a 8.8 average with two assists, Rashford 8.6, Bruno 8.5 and Zirkzee 8.3.
Rashford scored first from a corner in the 34th minute of the game, and then the second goal came less than 10 minutes from Zirkzee sliding off Bruno’s pass into the back of the net.
As the second half began, Rashford needed just few seconds to give United a third goal. It was Amad’s pass that Zirkzee turned into the fourth goal, around 64th minute.
Amorim believes the performance was far from best, yet the players enjoyed themselves.
The future seems bright for the Red Devils now.
