Anambra Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Kidnapper and Releases two Hostages after a Ransom of ₦200,000 was Paid
19-year-old Ifechukwu Ibesimako and his gang have been arrested by the Anambra State police of the Oba Police Divisional Headquarters in Idemili South Local Government Area of the State on Wednesday.
The arrest was confirmed by the the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed that the suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping/robbery Squad of the Command for comprehensive investigations, by order of the State Commissioner of Police.
Ikenga also advised young persons to be careful of the people they engage with on social media.
It is said that the kidnapper, Ifechukwu and his cohort usually win their victims over through social media. After proposing friendship to them they would invite them over, and hold them hostage until a ransom is paid by the person’s family for their release.
Before their arrest at 11:54 a.m, a ransom of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦200,000) had been paid for the release of a hostage. Unfortunately for them, they did not realize they had been trailed.
Two female victims between the ages of 15 and 19 were rescued by the Police of the Oba Police Divisional Headquarters.
