“Burna Boy behind harassment of Speed Darlington by the police. This is someone who has being singing against oppression and forming junior Fela now oppressing Akpi,” says lawyer Deji Adeyanju.
Deji Adeyanju who is the legal counsel to popular social media influencer and activist, Martins Otse a.k.a VeryDarkMan, has evoked mixed reactions on twitter (X) and other social media platforms after claiming in his post on twitter that Nigerian Music star and Grammy award winner is behind the re-arrest of another Nigerian musician and comedian, Darlington Okoye a.k.a Speed Darlington.
Reports has it that Speed Darlington (sometimes referred to as Akpi) who was earlier arrested by the police courtesy of Burna Boy for some severe claims he made about the famous artist, was rearrested again in Owerri, Imo State.
The news that Speed Darlington Darlington was arrested during his show in Owerri had made rounds on social media earlier today.
However, lawyer Deji Adeyanju who also confirmed the arrest in a post on twitter, went on to say that Burna Boy is the cause of the arrest. That though Burna Boy idolizes Fela and sings against oppression, yet, he is an oppressor himself, as he continues to use his influence to subjugate Speed Darlington.
The claim which has been approved by sympathizers of Speed Darlington, have caused provocation from fans of Burna Boy.
Below are some reactions:
@crownDcook says; “If i be burna I go arrest you join self.”
@Unwanaassam1 writes; “Akpi deserves whatever he’s going through. That’s not oppression, bro. Darlington has been unnecessarily dragging Burna for months now even when it was not in any way necessary or funny. So, if the best way to get justice and stop him from further linking Burna to Piddy’s case on social media, so be it. I support Burna Boy on this.”
@Hopsin017 believes that Speed Darlinton deserves what he is getting for being a nuisance; “If Burna Boy is behind this, I’m honestly not surprised. Sometimes people need to face consequences for their actions, and Speed Darlington has been a nuisance for a while.”
@SimoncoleB said; “We don’t give a shit. Akpi had the chance to shut the hell up. Do your damn job as a lawyer and tell me where to draw the line between free speech and defamation. Tell him where his rights start and where it ends . Abi you sef they use all this confusion improve your CV as a fresh lawyer.”
