Anthony Chiejina, the Dangote Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer on Sunday disclosed in a statement that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the price of its Premium Motor Spirit from ₦990 to ₦970 .
This as Anthony Chiejina explained is an end of year package for Nigerians. It is the Company’s way to appreciate Nigerians and the Nigerian government for standing by them to make their dream come to pass.
“As the year comes to an end, this is our way of appreciating the good people of Nigeria for their unwavering support in making the refinery a dream come true. In addition, this is to thank the government for their support as this will complement the measures put in place to encourage domestic enterprise for our collective well-being,” the PUNCH quotes him saying.
The Communications officer also mentioned that the refinery is determined to make access to petroleum easy for Nigerians and it will not relent in its efforts to give Nigeria the best of product. Hence, “dispelling any fear of a shortfall in supply.”
When the Dangote refinery kicked off operations, there have been lots of controversies, and it seemed its establishment was not well received by the government and major petroleum corporations in the country.
However, for the past one month, the Dangote refinery have been running smooth sales and supplies. Though not in the manner average Nigerians expected.
Nigerians had expected that when the refinery began operations, it will bring down the cost of petroleum to at least ₦300 per litre, despite the removal of subsidy. This seems to have been Dangote’s wishes too, but circumstances surrounding the petroleum market made things different.
Nigerians today still buy gasoline above ₦1000, and Dangote just decided to reduce the price for marketers from ₦990 to ₦970. Which of course will go back up after the year ending.
