The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, has reiterated the federal government’s commitment to transforming the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, into a globally recognised centre of excellence that is both digitally driven and financially sustainable by 2030.Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 47th Senior Executive Course of NIPSS in Plateau State, Senator Shettima emphasized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to the institute’s development agenda.
He highlighted that the President envisions NIPSS as a key driver of policy innovation and national leadership development.According to the Vice President, NIPSS is more than an academic institution; it is a strategic platform for cultivating thinkers, reformers, and innovators across Nigeria. “The Institute’s Senior Executive Course is a deliberate investment in the nation’s future leadership and a convergence point for ideas that shape policy and guide reforms,” he stated.Senator Shettima stressed that the government recognises the institute’s vital role in shaping national policy and developing leadership capacity necessary to navigate the complexities of an evolving global environment. He affirmed that NIPSS remains central to Nigeria’s vision of effective governance and sustainable development.The Vice President noted that President Tinubu has been steadfast in supporting NIPSS’s transformation agenda, underscoring the administration’s commitment to modernising the institute’s infrastructure, enhancing research capabilities, and expanding its global partnerships.“By 2030, we intend to see NIPSS as a digitally driven institution that is financially self-reliant, attracting scholars, policymakers, and innovators from across the globe,” Senator Shettima added, highlighting the long-term vision for the institute’s evolution.He further described the Senior Executive Course as a critical initiative for nurturing high-level leaders capable of contributing to national growth.
Participants, he said, engage in rigorous intellectual exercises that refine their decision-making skills and broaden their perspectives on governance and policy formulation.The Vice President also lauded the graduates of the 47th course, urging them to leverage the knowledge and networks gained at NIPSS to drive transformative change in their respective sectors. “You are the torchbearers of innovative policy and leadership reform in Nigeria,” he declared.
