The saying that bad times is inevitable has realized itself on the legendary Pep Guardiola.
Football history knows of one man, who spiced up football, squeezing all the fun out.
From Barcelona to Bayern Munich and then to Manchester City, Pep successfully turned every league he is been to, into what football fans call “farmers’ league”.
He dominated the Spanish La liga for almost five years; dominated German Bundesliga for three years; then came to the English Premier league, and has been dominating since his first contract in 2016.
Winning 6 premier league titles, three of which he did consecutively; One UEFA champions league, Super cup and FIFA Club world cup; two FA cups, four EFL titles, and three Community shields.
Pep brought the new flames into Manchester City, playing three champion’s league finals in a roll; giving them their first Champions league ever, and doing so in style by winning a treble.
Every team Pep plays against always know before hand that they are underdogs. His possessive style of play, which has seen him force big clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint German, Manchester United, etc. into panting for 90 minutes.
However, the year 2024 seems to present a different turn of events. The season seemed to have begun well, with Harland netting 10 goals after five premier league matches, and City sitting atop the league table.
Then it seemed during a very bright afternoon, night fell. Once they lost their EFL match against Tottenham Hotspurs on the 30th October, the lost has since refused to stop. Now they are five points below Liverpool who still have a game to play.
Guardiola’s Manchester City have gone ahead losing four more matches back to back; one champions league, and three premier league matches, including today against Tottenham Hotspurs again.
They have lost at both home and away to teams no one would take a stake on. Losing to Bournemouth, Sporting CP, Brighton Hoves & Albion, and Tottenham twice.
Is this just bad times? or a call to leave Manchester City? But his contract won’t expire until 2027.
What has happened to Pep Guardiola has shocked football fans all over the world. While many sing of the end of his reign, others believe he is being punished for his fraudulent transfers which has led Manchester City under probe by the English Football Financial Fair play.
Is this the end of an era? Or his game tactics are no longer working?
Pep has sure had his glory enough, as he stands as the most successful club coach in Europe.
