The suit targets Sahara Reporters, Mikiya, Omoyele Sowore, and other Nigerian media outlets, seeking to stop them from publishing reports regarding his alleged links with terrorist groups. The lawsuit follows reports claiming that Matawalle has connections with certain terrorist organizations — allegations that have sparked nationwide controversy, especially after former Defense Minister Badaru was replaced by General Christopher Musa. In the filing, Matawalle asked the court to order media outlets to cease publishing stories he considers defamatory and unsupported by evidence. He also warned that the proliferation of such reports could spread misinformation and damage his reputation in the eyes of the public.
