Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle is expected to announce his final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad on Thursday (today), but the Franco-Malian tactician will be forced to make difficult decisions due to injuries to several key players ahead of the tournament, PUNCH Sports Extra reports. The 2025 AFCON will be played in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Chelle released a 54-man provisional list for the tournament last Tuesday, which is expected to be trimmed to a maximum of 28 players in line with the deadline stipulated by the Confederation of African Football. Top of the list of doubtful players for Nigeria is goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who was one of the standout performers at the last edition in Ivory where NIGERIA finish second place. Nwabali has been injured since the last international break and could miss the tournament, according to his coach at Chippa United. The 29-year-old is said to be struggling with both an ankle and a hand injury and has been left out of Chippa United’s last three matches. “I doubt it, looking at the state of his injury,” Chippa United coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi told SuperSport.
