The family of music legend Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia has formally petitioned the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), urging the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to launch a full investigation into their claims against his wife, Natasha Irobosa Osawaru. The petition, dated November 12, 2025, outlines multiple serious allegations — including assault, financial misconduct, and possible bigamy.
According to the petition, the Idibia family accuses Natasha Osawaru of:
Physical assault — The family claims there were incidents of assault involving 2Baba in both the United Kingdom and Abuja.
Financial misappropriation — They allege she gained unauthorized access to his phone and bank accounts and transferred funds without consent.
Seizure of personal property and travel documents — Including his passport, which they say prevented him from honouring business engagements and performances.
Substance abuse and emotional distress — The petition contends that Osawaru allegedly supplied 2Baba with substances that led to violent behaviour, emotional trauma, and financial loss.
Possible violation of marriage laws (bigamy) — The family asked that authorities clarify whether the marriage to Osawaru is lawful under the circumstances.
The petition warns that these events have caused “severe emotional distress, financial hardship and public embarrassment” to 2Baba, while his personal safety and mental well-being are said to be at risk.
This is not the first time the Idibia family has sought external intervention over concerns involving 2Baba’s well-being. In February 2025, the family wrote to the Department of State Services (DSS), declaring him missing after he left home on February 10 and failed to return. Friends reportedly received messages from what appeared to be his social media accounts, seeking financial assistance — a development the family described as alarming.
At one point, his mother publicly appealed to Natasha Osawaru over fears that 2Baba was under undue influence, suggesting his behavior had changed drastically.

In a recent video, the veteran singer appealed to fans and well-wishers to stop escalating the controversy, warning that doing so could endanger Natasha. He said he was “perfectly okay,” denied responsibility for some of the social-media posts that sparked outrage, and asked everyone to “cease fire” as he and his wife sorted out their issues privately.
Despite his appeal for calm, the petition from his family indicates they believe the alleged offences — if true — go beyond marital issues and into criminal territory.
