What Tinubu Said at the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brazil

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR was at the G20 Leaders Summit today in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

While addressing the assembly, he spoke about the troubles and challenges faced in Nigeria and Africa, and endorsed the creation of a Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.

In light of drawing the true picture of what is happening in Africa, Tinubu mentioned the problem of terrorism, insecurity; which prevents farmers from going to their farms.  

He mentioned the problem of misplacement in Sudan, flooding, which has destroyed crops; problem of out-of-school children,  and the inability for the country to fund free education or even providing one meal a day for school children to help them pay attention to studies.

Tinubu also spoke on the lack of funds to empower small scale businesses, and the issue of lack of power

“What do I do, to help the small scale industries? The cost of funding is expensive,” he said.

“What do I do to get power to industrialize my country? The cost of funding is extremely expensive.”

Tinubu emphasized on the dangers of neglecting Africa, as he called for support for the continent.

“Support the continent,” he said, “the neglect of Africa is a danger to the rest of humanity.”

The Nigeria’s president advised that nations have to lift one another up, and building an inclusive economy that takes into account the population growth.

He described the population of Nigeria and how it’s affecting the economy, stating that the fight against hunger and poverty is not a matter of choice, but a matter of power rating.

He also mentioned the challenge of setting up funding for the education of the vibrant youth population of his country which are 70 percent below the age of 30.
