Okon Lagos Writes an Open Letter to Tinubu Urging Him to Deal with Sacred Cows

Nollywood actor Imeh Bishop Umoh, popularly known as Okon Lagos, has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against Kaduna-based cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, accusing him of openly enabling and defending bandits.

In an open letter shared on Instagram, the actor criticised what he described as the government’s “lack of courage” to arrest and prosecute the controversial cleric, who has repeatedly visited bandit enclaves and advocated for negotiations with armed groups.

“Sheikh Gumi is a proven banditry apologist,” Okon wrote. “It is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that our authorities lack the courage to arrest, investigate, and prosecute him for terrorism if found culpable.”

He referenced former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai’s stance that “the only repentant terrorist is a dead one,” adding that he fully agrees. “Kill them all. Save Nigeria,” he said bluntly.

Okon Lagos criticised the idea of negotiating with criminals, insisting that “no responsible government negotiates with terrorists.” He acknowledged that political pressures and “sacred cows” may influence decision-making but argued that the country’s security situation demands bold, uncompromising action.

“Let sacred cows be touched. Let heads roll. That’s not too much to ask if it will make our roads, farmlands, and communities safe again,” he added.

He warned that Nigeria is “near gone” due to escalating insecurity and urged President Tinubu to act decisively.

“Mr President, I know you can. I hope you will,” he concluded.
