Nigeria’s largest FinTech company PAYCOM a.k.a Opay has taken a new step to support education in Nigeria.

This was announced earlier this month.

The scholarship plan which is kick-starting at the University of Ibadan had Opay signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University.

Opay will provide ₦300,000 annual scholarships to 20 outstanding students for the next 10 years.

With this new plan, Opay hopes to extend the reach to 20 Universities nationwide, and support not less than 400 students every year.

With a ₦120 million annual investment, OPay will contribute a total of over ₦1.2B to empower young Nigerians and drive positive change across the nation’s academic landscape.

This initiative, according to Opay, represents more than just financial support—it’s a long-term commitment to academic excellence and the future of Nigerian education.

Since its establishment in 2018, Opay has changed the banking narrative, making financial accessibility easy and smooth, with people not needing to go to a physical branch.

Apart from finance, Opay offers several other services, ranging from bills payment to airtime/data and even loans.

There were doubts among Nigerians on Opay’s durability, so that people found it hard to keep huge sums of money in their Opay accounts. But as the days pass by, Opay has continued to proof people wrong.

Opay which now has a reach of over 8 million users daily has license from CBN and NDIC.
