A dramatic scuffle broke out aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight from Asaba to Lagos on Sunday, November 17, when social critics Very Dark Man (VDM) and Mr. Jollof—long-time rivals—engaged in a physical fight in front of stunned passengers. Comedian FunnyBone, who was on the same flight, was seen trying to separate the pair before crew members intervened and had them removed from the aircraft.

Shortly after the incident, VDM released a video giving his account of what happened. According to him, the altercation started when he confronted Mr. Jollof over a previous threat.

“I entered the plane, saw him, and told him today he must slap me. Next thing, he punched me. When I chased him, he started biting me… him eye red,” he said, claiming he “chopped Jollof’s father” during the brawl.

The fight has now drawn the attention of aviation authorities. Michael Achimugu, spokesperson for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), condemned the incident and confirmed that both men will face the full weight of the law for their unruly behavior onboard an aircraft.

Achimugu noted that such actions endanger passengers, crew, and the aircraft itself, stressing that the NCAA has zero tolerance for in-flight misconduct. He added that the airline is expected to file an official report, after which the matter will be forwarded to the authority’s legal department for appropriate action.

He also questioned whether both men were deplaned before takeoff or flown to their destination, warning that either scenario carries serious implications for safety procedures.

As of the latest update, VDM and Mr. Jollof are at the Delta State Airport Police Command writing their statements as investigations continue.
