United States Senator Ted Cruz has vowed to publicly identify Nigerian officials allegedly responsible for the continuous terrorism and what he described as the “ongoing murder and persecution of Christians” in the country.
Cruz made the declaration in a video shared across his social media pages, where he addressed what he called a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.
In a statement accompanying the video, the Texas senator said he had been pushing legislation to redesignate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) and to impose sanctions on those enabling religious violence.

“I’ve been pushing legislation to designate Nigeria a CPC and to impose sanctions on the Nigerian officials responsible,” he wrote. “Thank you to President Trump for his leadership in imposing the designation and for fighting to stop the murder of Christians in Nigeria.”
Cruz added that the next step was to hold those officials accountable, saying, “I intend to be very explicit about who they are in the coming days and weeks.”
His comments come amid renewed calls from U.S. lawmakers urging tougher action on Nigeria over alleged religious persecution and mass killings of Christians.
