The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 officers as part of internal reforms to strengthen discipline and restore integrity within the agency.

In a statement on Wednesday, the DSS said the dismissals occurred over time, targeting operatives involved in misconduct or unprofessional activities. The service also warned the public to beware of dismissed officers posing as active operatives.

“In addition to earlier disclaimers on Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, citizens are advised to verify anyone claiming to be a DSS officer before any official engagement,” the statement read. The full list of dismissed personnel has been published on the service’s official website for transparency.

Meanwhile, suspected bandits on Tuesday attacked the convoy of Jafaru Ali, a member of the House of Representatives representing Borgu and Agwara Federal Constituency in Niger State. The attack, which occurred around 1:00 p.m. at Kuble village along the Agwara–Babana road, left several people injured, including security aides attached to the lawmaker.

Military troops have since been deployed to the area to restore order, though no official statement has been issued by security agencies.

In a related development, the new Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Sumaila Uba, has called for stronger collaboration between the military and the media to combat misinformation and divisive narratives. He pledged to promote transparency, unity of purpose, and timely communication in national defence reporting.
