In a rather bizarre twist, suspected burglars in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, helped themselves to a meal of chicken and cool drinks during a house break-in.
The incident took place on Saunders Circle on Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2025. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a burglary in progress.
When responders arrived, they discovered that the suspects had forced open the back door and burglar gate to gain access to the home. Inside, the house had been ransacked, with valuables including a flat-screen television, an air fryer, and cash missing.

Surprisingly, the burglars appeared to have made themselves at home—heating up chicken in the microwave and washing it down with cool drinks before fleeing the scene.

Investigators said the suspects also attempted to move the refrigerator but were unable to remove it from the property.
RUSA confirmed that a case has been opened and that officers are continuing their search for the suspects, describing the incident as one of the most unusual burglary cases they have handled in recent times.
