A shocking video making the rounds on social media shows a driver whipping an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) during a heated confrontation at a traffic stop.
The footage, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), captures the moment the driver and the FRSC officer engage in a scuffle before the man pulls out a koboko (whip) and lashes the officer several times.
Other FRSC personnel quickly rushed in to separate the two as bystanders recorded the scene.

A voice in the background of the video alleged that the officer had hit the driver with a traffic cone after the driver refused to give him money. “Because you tried to collect money from him and he didn’t give, you used the plastic cone to hit him at the steering,” the voice said, describing the event that reportedly provoked the driver’s violent reaction.
The video has since gone viral, sparking widespread discussion on police and road safety officers’ conduct, as well as the growing frustration of motorists over alleged extortion on Nigerian roads.
As of press time, the FRSC has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
