We have recovered N566bn, $411m, 1,502 Properties in two years — EFCC boss, Ola Olukoyede Says

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that the agency recovered over ₦566 billion, $411 million, and 1,502 properties within two years.

Olukoyede made the disclosure in Abuja on Thursday, October 23, 2025, noting that the recovered funds have been channeled into major national programs such as the Students Loan Scheme, Consumer Credit Scheme, and to key agencies including NDDC, AMCON, FIRS, and NHIA.

Since his appointment on October 18, 2023, the EFCC has received more than 19,000 petitions, conducted 29,240 investigations, filed 10,525 cases, and secured 7,503 convictions, according to the Director of Public Affairs, Commander CE Wilson Uwujaren.

Among the recovered assets are 753 duplexes in Lokogoma, Abuja, and Nok University, now renamed the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State.

Olukoyede also highlighted major corruption cases involving former governors, ministers, and ex-CBN governor Godwin Emefiele. He added that in December 2024, 792 suspects, including 192 foreigners, were arrested for cryptocurrency and investment fraud.

He emphasized that the EFCC’s efforts demonstrate Nigeria’s firm stand against financial crimes, noting that recovered assets are now being repurposed for public use, while the Commission’s new Task Force on Naira Abuse continues to sanitize currency operations nationwide.
