A Nigerian soldier has allegedly stabbed a civilian, identified as Mr. Ugo, to death at the entrance of a private estate in Otokutu, Ughelli South, Delta State, sparking outrage and calls for justice.
Human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe, confirmed the incident in a video statement on Monday, describing it as “a senseless act of military brutality.” He said the matter had been reported to the Delta State Police Command.
According to Ugo’s younger brother, Toshi, the tragedy occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2025, when they visited a friend at an estate near Plantation City. While at the gate, an argument broke out between Ugo and a soldier after the security guard stopped their car for questioning. The soldier allegedly slapped Ugo repeatedly before attacking him.

Toshi said his brother was later found lying in a pool of blood after being stabbed twice—in the hand and ribs. Efforts to save his life at a nearby hospital failed as doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Joe condemned the killing, demanding that the Nigerian Army identify and prosecute the officer involved. “This madness must stop. Soldiers are meant to protect citizens, not kill them,” he said.
The victim’s family and activists are calling for a full investigation and justice for Ugo’s death.
