There was panic along the Ugwuogo Nike–Opi–Nsukka road in Enugu State on Friday evening after suspected kidnappers reportedly blocked the busy highway, forcing motorists to abandon their vehicles.
A viral video shared on social media showed commuters stranded and vehicles halted along the route as gunmen allegedly launched an attack. The road, which links Nsukka to several northern parts of Enugu, was said to have been completely blocked during the incident.
In the clip posted by an X user identified as Chuks, the eyewitness claimed that police officers stationed nearby fled the scene when the gunmen struck, leaving travelers at the mercy of the attackers.
