A political group loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, the Abia Best Interest Association (A.B.I.A), has called on Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to demand accountability from Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, over the alleged mismanagement of ₦54 billion reportedly spent on school projects.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the group’s leader, Hon. Eze Chikamnayo, challenged the Abia government to publish full details of the purported 51 public school projects (including their locations, contractors, and photographs) which he claimed were funded between the first and fourth quarters of 2024.

Chikamnayo criticized Peter Obi for what he described as “selective criticism,” urging him to focus on governance lapses in Abia rather than referencing foreign models like Indonesia and China. He accused Otti’s administration of “systemic corruption and impunity,” alleging that local government funds in Abia had been diverted.

“If we condemn corruption at the federal level and ignore it at the state and local levels, we become hypocrites,” he said.

The APC group also commended President Bola Tinubu for declining Governor Otti’s invitation to commission projects recently, describing them as “phantom.”

Chikamnayo vowed that Governor Otti would be defeated in the 2027 election, insisting that the APC would “liberate Abia from propaganda and poor governance.”

“Abians are tired of deceit and mismanagement. In 2027, we will replace Alex Otti with a transparent APC government,” he declared.
