Controversial Anambra-based clergyman, Prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje, has openly criticized prominent church leaders, Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church, accusing them of keeping silent in the face of Nigeria’s worsening governance and economic hardship.
In a viral video, Odumeje lamented what he described as the “worst government anywhere,” stressing that poverty, hunger, and corruption have become normalised in the country. He argued that respected voices in the Christian faith should be speaking out against government failures, just as they did during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
“See Adeboye during Jonathan’s time—he complained fuel was too costly. Today, things are worse, yet nobody is talking. Prices rise daily, and silence has become the order,” Odumeje said.

He compared Nigeria’s economic decline to Ghana’s progress, noting that the Ghanaian cedi has gained strength against the naira, a reversal from the past when Nigerians mocked Ghana’s economy. “Even Ghana is insulting Nigeria now. Before, we used to laugh at their money. Today, Ghana mocks us, even their currency is almost like the dollar,” he added
Odumeje also reminded Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign promises, including 24-hour electricity, saying citizens must demand accountability. He warned that political leaders are “businessmen posing as politicians” who care more about wealth than service.
Calling on youths to rise and reclaim the nation, Odumeje stressed that failed leadership affects both present and future generations.
“When a father is bad, the children suffer. When leaders are corrupt, people lose respect,” he said. “That is why fathers of faith like Adeboye and Oyedepo must speak boldly.”
