President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to rise above religious divisions and embrace tolerance as a way of strengthening national unity.
Speaking on Saturday, October 4, at the funeral service of Lydia Yilwatda, mother of APC national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, the President stressed that faith should unite, not divide.
He pointed to his own family as an example of peaceful coexistence, noting that while he is a Muslim, his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is a Christian pastor, and their difference in faith has never caused conflict.

“I inherited Islam from my family and never changed. My wife is a pastor, she prays for me, and we live in harmony. I never tried to convince or convert her. We both pray to the same God, and in the end, what matters is our deeds, our character, and our love for others, not the method of worship,” Tinubu said.
He urged Nigerians to replace hate with love and respect for one another, describing intolerance as a threat to peace and unity.
The President also paid tribute to the late Lydia Yilwatda, who died in August at the age of 83, praising her as a woman of deep faith and service to humanity.
