Kenyan police have announced a bounty of 1 million shillings (about $7,700 or ₦11.5 million) for information leading to the capture of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, a suspected serial killer accused of murdering more than 40 women.
Khalusha, arrested in August 2024, reportedly escaped custody shortly afterward along with 12 others by cutting through a wire mesh roof and scaling a perimeter wall.
Authorities confirmed the breakout occurred at a police station regarded as one of the country’s most secure, located near the United States embassy and United Nations offices in Nairobi.

The bodies of the victims, mostly women aged 18 to 30, were discovered mutilated and dumped in a disused quarry in Nairobi that had become an informal dumpsite.
Over a year since his escape, Khalusha remains at large, fueling public outrage and deepening criticism of Kenya’s security agencies.
Speaking to the BBC, rights activist Khalid Hussein accused police of negligence in handling the case, alleging they were “not serious” about investigating the killings. He further claimed that some of the victims’ bodies were still left in quarry pits to decompose.
The manhunt continues as authorities face mounting pressure to bring Khalusha to justice and provide closure to the families of the victims.
