Tension rose in Tsaragi town, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Sunday as youths marched to the palace of the Etsu Tsaragi to protest the rising wave of insecurity in their community.

The protesters, chanting solidarity songs, demanded that Fulani settlers leave Tsaragi land and urged the monarch to relay their grievances to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whom they accused of neglecting the safety of communities in Kwara North.

The demonstration followed the abduction of a local businessman, Suleiman Ndana, during a midnight attack. Residents said Ndana had alerted security operatives as gunmen stormed his home, but no help arrived. He was eventually taken away after offering himself in exchange for his pregnant wife, whom the attackers had threatened to abduct.

Eyewitnesses reported that the armed men fired sporadically while ransacking the compound before fleeing with their victim. The incident has heightened fear across Tsaragi, where cases of kidnappings and killings have become more frequent in recent months.

The youths called on the government to act swiftly to restore peace and protect lives, warning that their community could no longer endure the constant threat of violence.
