BREAKING: Sowore Drags Wike to Florida Attorney-General Over Alleged Properties Bought With Public Funds Under his Wife and Children's Name

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has petitioned the Attorney-General of Florida, James Uthmeier, accusing FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of laundering Nigerian public funds to acquire properties in the United States.

Sowore claims three houses in Winter Springs, Florida, were traced to Wike but registered under the name of his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, a serving Court of Appeal judge. He alleged the properties were also shared among Wike’s children to disguise their origins.

According to him, the transactions amount to “first-class felonies” under U.S. law, stressing that investigations could reveal even more assets linked to Wike.

Sowore said the petition was meant to alert U.S. authorities about what he described as illicit wealth trafficking into American real estate. He argued that the case exposes how Nigerian politicians divert stolen funds abroad while the country struggles with corruption and underdevelopment.

This development comes days after Wike dismissed rumours of ill health, saying he had only travelled abroad for a holiday. He also took a swipe at critics like Sowore, accusing them of hiding behind social media.

Sowore, however, insists Wike should be facing international criminal charges rather than holding public office in Nigeria.
