A military court in Jos has sentenced Private Lukman Musa to death by hanging for the murder of a tricycle rider, Abdulrahman Isa, in Azare, Bauchi State.
The verdict was delivered on Thursday, September 18, 2025, by Brigadier General Liafis Bello, President of the 3 Division Nigerian Army General Court Martial sitting at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment. Musa was found guilty of culpable homicide and unlawful possession of ammunition.
According to evidence presented in court, Musa conspired with an accomplice, identified as Oba, to lure Isa into his home. He attacked and strangled the victim before dumping the body in a sack between Shira and Yala villages. Isa’s tricycle was later sold, exposing the crime.

Brig. Gen. Bello described Musa’s crime as a betrayal of military values, stressing that the ruling reinforces the Army’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and criminality.
Major Aminu Mairuwa, Acting Deputy Director of Legal Services, 3 Division, said the judgment demonstrated the Army’s commitment to accountability and the rule of law.
For Isa’s family, the ruling offered a sense of justice. His elder brother, Anas Isa, thanked the Army for ensuring that the case was not swept aside.
