Police in Anambra have arrested a 43-year-old man, Patrick Ojele, who pretended to be mentally unstable while secretly running a cannabis farm in Awka.
Police spokesman DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said Ojele was picked up on Wednesday during a routine patrol along the Awka–Enugu Expressway, close to Ngozika Estate.
After his arrest, he led operatives to his hidden farm, where large quantities of cannabis were discovered and seized.

Ikenga added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered that Ojele be transferred to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugwu-Ukwu for further investigation to trace his customers and break up his supply network.
The arrest is part of the command’s ongoing crackdown on drug abuse and related crimes. In recent operations, police also arrested 54 suspects in Ogidi, Idemili North, and Ifitedunu, with offenses ranging from cultism to drug peddling and kidnapping.
Ikenga noted that the efforts are focused on restoring sanity in the state and tackling the rise of crime among young people.
