The Delta State Government has introduced a strict dress code for civil servants, outlawing bushy beards, artificial hair, long eyelashes, fake nails, and other appearances it considers indecent.
The directive, issued through a circular from the Office of the Head of Service, stressed that workers must maintain neat and professional appearances that reflect their positions in the public service.
According to the guidelines, senior male officers are expected to wear full corporate suits, while junior officers must appear in trousers, shirts, and ties.

Traditional attire is allowed only on Fridays and special occasions, but certain caps such as the “Resource Control” and “Papas” styles are banned. Bushy beards are also prohibited.
Female staff are required to appear in corporate suits or gowns that fall below the knee, with sleeves. Sleeveless outfits, spaghetti straps, and clothing that exposes cleavage are strictly disallowed. Artificial braided or dyed hair, long eyelashes, and fake nails have also been banned.
The circular directed department heads to enforce the rules immediately, warning that any worker who violates the code will be sent home to change or risk sanctions.
The government explained that the move was aimed at restoring discipline and decency in the civil service, insisting that senior officers must lead by example in promoting proper dressing.
