A 94-year-old Nigerian man, Adedapo Idowu, has taken a bold step toward achieving his long-held aspiration of pursuing higher education by registering for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

His remarkable story was highlighted in the latest bulletin of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), where he expressed enthusiasm about this milestone.

“I can now attain my dream at an advanced age,” Idowu stated, emphasizing his excitement about the opportunity.

He praised JAMB for streamlining the UTME registration process, particularly through the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN), which he believes has reduced barriers for the elderly, underprivileged, and people with disabilities.

“The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging through their warm reception,” he noted.

Encouraging JAMB to sustain its seamless registration system, Idowu expressed confidence in his ability to sit for the exam and succeed. He also advised other candidates to pursue their academic goals with diligence and integrity.

Meanwhile, the 2025 UTME registration, which commenced on January 31, has already recorded over 700,000 candidates, including 11,000 underage applicants, according to JAMB.
