Naija Afropop singer David Adeleke popular known as Davido on his twitter handle earlier today, has promised that his birthday this year will be massive.
The multiple award singer and husband to Chioma – a one time Big Brother Naija housemate, wrote that he will be donating as much as 300 million Naira to orphanages and charity that helps young people stay away from drugs and addiction.
A lot of followers have reacted to this, some praising him for his philanthropic gestures while others believe it is to gain pity from the masses after he pulled off a crypto scam for which a lot of people lost their money some months ago.
Davido a.k.a Baddest will be celebrating his birthday on the 21st of November in the city of Atlanta, Georgia, USA with a performance for which tickets are already on sale.
In 2021, Davido raised 200 million Naira the instant he shared his account details on Twitter and added 50 Million Naira which was donated to orphanages.
He donated 200 Million Naira in 2023 where over 13,800 children benefited from.
It seems donating huge sums of money to the less privileged is a thing David Adeleke does on his birthdays.
People however, still find ways to slam him for it. Some accuse him of just talking and not really doing, or showing off. Others think he is better than his rival Wizkid who is not outspoken and doesn’t care about his fans.
Davido had once said he grew up in a family where giving is a culture, hence, it is just normal for him to give. He recalls how his mother used to give a lot, even when they didn’t have much.
There are a lot of well-to-do individuals who do not care about the poor. Giving is a special gift in itself, hence, it is always good to appreciate and encourage those who try to share what they have with those in need. Instead of pointing accusing fingers.
