The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Borno/Yobe Area Command has entered a new phase of leadership following the formal handover ceremony that saw Comptroller Mohammed Abdullahi assume office as the new Customs Area Controller.According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Ubali, the transition on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, followed the appointment of the former Area Controller, Assistant Comptroller-General Muhammad Malah, to the Management Team as ACG Board.The ceremony, held at the Command’s Conference Hall, brought together senior officers, unit heads, retired personnel, sister agency representatives, and stakeholders to witness the smooth transition in line with the Service’s administrative tradition.In his farewell remarks, ACG Malah expressed gratitude to Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi, and the management team for the opportunity to serve. “My time in this command has been truly rewarding and impactful, achieved through professionalism, teamwork, and the steadfast support of our stakeholders. I encourage all officers to extend the same commitment and loyalty to the incoming CAC” ACG Malah said.Comptroller Abdullahi, in his acceptance remarks, thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs for the trust placed in him and commended his predecessor for exceptional leadership. He pledged to build on the Command’s achievements, especially in revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and ethical service delivery.He called on officers to remain disciplined, diligent, and responsible, while assuring stakeholders of continued collaboration to strengthen operations across the Borno/Yobe corridor.Attendees described the transition as a sign of stability and continuity within the Nigeria Customs Service, reflecting its commitment to better service delivery and public confidence.The event also featured the signing of handover documents, presentation of the Service flag, and group photographs marking the leadership change.
